Back Home Again In Indiana

I visited my hometown over the weekend. Alfordsville is located twenty minutes north west of Jasper. It is south of Loogootee and has a Loogootee address. It is surrounded by picturesque farm land. After attending church there on Sunday, I drove around town. It took me all of five minutes. No matter how large or how small, there is no place like home!

Martha,

I stumbled upon your post about Alfordsville while performing a "google" search. Alfordsville is not my home town but I spent much of my early years there visiting my grandparents, Mary and Paul McCord, on their farm in the years 1950 thru 1960. Later, their farm was, and still is, operated by Jerry and LaVerne McCord (their son and daughter-in-law). Do you know them? What years did you grow up in Alfordsville? My memories of the area are vivid and rich with great experiences.

Did you know Ronnie and Gary Arvin and their parents? The father Herschel ran the fuel and feed station in the center of town. Their mother Lucielle was the best and most clean housekeeper west and east of the Missippi! You had to take your shoes off before you walked in the yard!

If you know them are you in touch with Gary? I have heard from my uncle Jerry that Ronnie passed.

Please advise,

Thank you,

Mike Trainer
